Mold on Floor Boards

Mold on Floor Boards

SERVPRO of Southwest Portland was on the job to dry these hardwood floors and then remove the mold. It is important to note, however, that the guiding principle of proper mold remediation is to REMOVE the mold, not kill the mold.

Dead mold can still possess toxic features. Beware of providers who tell you there's a quick and easy solution to mold remediation.

Mold colonies inside a wall

Mold Inside a Wall

A water leak caused dormant mold spores to develop into large mold colonies along this wall.  After we sealed off this part of the house to prevent the cross contamination of mold spores, fungi particles, and dust, we demolished the lower two feet of the drywall.

Fungi and mold naturally occur in our environment. In fact, over 100,000 kinds of fungi have been identified. Fungi produce some very useful results. Even though some forms of mold can add value to our lives, other forms can be harmful. Excessive amounts of mold, different types of mold exposure may present health effects for some people.  After a day, we verified that the exposed area was back to normal moisture levels, so we then buttoned up the drywall and left the challenge of taping, finishing, and painting the wall to the homeowner as per his request.

Kitchens Are Not Always Clean

Under your kitchen sink could be one of the dirtiest places in your house. Keeping moisture away as well as cleaning products upright and in a safe place goes a long way!  Keep mold, mildew, dampness away by keeping things neat and orderly.

Mold Grows Everywhere

Mold can grow places that we don't even think about if the area is even remotely damp.  Bathrooms and kitchens are the biggest offenders since they have so many nooks and crannies that might get missed in routine cleaning.  SERVPRO of Southwest Portland can get rid of the mold in any place it might decide to grow.  You should leave the clean-up to the professionals so it doesn't get any worse!
